ALL ABOUT 1N5 DYSLEXIA TUTORING

My Background

Are you looking for a tutor for dyslexia? Welcome! My name is

Esther Collins and I am a private Certified Level 1 Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. I am also Orton-Gillingham trained by the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. I am from Houston, Texas, and now reside in Marietta, GA. I am married and we have three young adults, two dogs, and one cat.

Before becoming a dyslexia practitioner, I began my career as a court reporter for ten years. After a period of time being a stay-at-home mom, I began my research on Orton-Gillingham to help our own children succeed in school. I have been in private practice since 2017. In March of 2020, I began to offer interventions services virtually. Now, eighty percent of my students are virtual due to the convenience virtual tutoring has to offer while my students continue to make progress.

I am not only a specialist for children with dyslexia, I am also a parent that has been through the dyslexic journey. Orton-Gillingham was well worth the investment into our children's educational journey. They are now successful in their education. OG is such an invaluable service for our children, and I have seen it through the lens of a parent as well as a dyslexia practitioner. Let me help ease your worries and your child's frustrations and begin the start of their journey towards being a successful reader.

WHAT IS A TUTORING SESSION LIKE?

Each tutoring session will have a core skill/strategy and practice with that skill. The session will consist of the target lesson, practice and application, and the creation of support materials that can be referenced at a later time. Sessions will be relaxed and fun, while still focusing on learning.

DO YOU ONLY TUTOR VIRTUALLY?

No, I am a virtual tutor and an in-person tutor. For clients in my local area, I offer in-person sessions. For clients outside of Marietta or who prefer a virtual option, I offer virtual Zoom sessions. I have families from GA, AZ, SD, PA, and IL. Choose which option works best for you and your family.

WHAT IS YOUR TUTORING RATE?

To get started, there is a one-time $100 assessment fee and a $50.00 materials fee. The assessments include the Alphabetic Principle, PAST, WIST (if age appropriate), and the WADE. Each session is $75.00 an hour. Within that hour, you can expect your child to work on decoding, encoding, reading comprehension, high frequency words, and vocabulary in an explicit and direct manner.
